Got the first clue slightly wrong. I was looking in the Pearl Harbor area.

Clue 1) sets it up but could be anything anywhere.
2) No idea.
3) had me looking up Oliver Hardy, Daniel Lambert etc.
4) No idea.
5) Manhattan (Project) eventually. And that tied in The Japanese Empire (4) and Fat Man (3). I looked at Hiroshima first but then I found out that Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki.

5. The name of a US borough has connections with what happened here. Manhattan is the US Borough sharing the name of the atomic bomb project.
