Watched the QPR Blackpool match last night mainly to see how Tyler Roberts is faring. Well, it's early in the season so perhaps a bit of leeway is needed.
It wasn't the most exciting of games. As for TR, he did OK. There were a couple of very good bits of skill from him but also a degree of carelessness with the ball and wrong decision making. Overall, the Championship looks as if it might be his level but he does need to raise his game to succeed. As I say, it is early season.
The most interesting thing for me was that TR was allowed to work all across the front line and what he did do, as opposed to what he was prone to do with us, is not to do everything at 100 miles an hour. It always seemed that at Leeds the more the crowd got on his back, and they did plenty of that, the more frantic his play became and the more mistakes he made.
Anyway, this looks like a good opportunity for him and he's made a decent start to his on loan period. At this point though I can't see him coming back to us and making it stick

Thanks for the update on Tyler, didn't see any of our loan players midweek but looked to see if they played and noticed all four (Roberts, Cresswell, Shackleton & Bate) started but all were subbed.

Didn’t know that, Cheers

Is that because they both started Tues? Championship is crazy....this is their 5th game in August already!

Only caught the second half. Charlie didn't play and Shacks was subbed on pretty late and didn't really get an opportunity to influence proceedings. Norwich CF looked a bit like Bamford

5 players out on loan and played 90min between them this weekend.
Roberts got 70min, Shacks 20min while Cresswell, Bate & McKinstry were all unused subs.

Makes you wonder if they would develop better in our u21s and training with our first team.

Cresswell and Shacks both started the first 4 games before they got benched against Norwich this weekend. If we come to the end of the season and they have started close to 80% of the league games (as they have so far) that is a great number of games for them.
Roberts seems to play regularly. Bate has been involved in 4 out of 5 games so far.
McKinstry was came to Motherwell like 3-4 days before the game. Give him a little bit of time.
It's way to premature to start doubting the loan policy this year.

He wasn't doubting the loan policy, he was wondering about it, there is a difference.
