But seriously folks, it's just the required protocol, the mods need to be sure it all goes smoothly before diving in. They deserve a mass of credit for setting it up, and we all deserve medals for putting up with so much unnecessary rubbish recently

To be honest, ANS, it looks brilliant. I can now get in to read and post. Thanks to all concerned. Onwards and upwards and MOT.
The free trial period is only a place for new unapproved members. Once approved you move to the general Users group. Also your first post will need to be approved by admin but after that just post away.
These measures are to mitigate against spam attacks.
